THANK GOD FOR AWAY GAMES

Finished this one yesterday evening. I've been playing with more muted colors lately. It's a beautiful Saturday, and I'm off to the Market Square Farmers' Market for my weekly dose of produce and people watching. The Vols are playing out of town this weekend, so Knoxville will be a little less busy, a little less crowded, and a little less orange today.

Last Saturday, something flipped the Fall switch on, and mornings have been much cooler. But the cicadas are still singing. It's a nice balance.

LIKE FATHER LIKE DAUGHTER

My Dad recently posted about his search for the oldest BBQ pit in Memphis. He wrote about one of the contenders -- a restaurant turned day care center -- on his blog. The accompanying the post is reminiscent of the imagery I like to hunt down. Ghosts of the past. A palimpsestual pit, if you will.

If you happen to know of any older pits in Memphis, or just like BBQ, head on over to his blog. It just turned 4.

SNOW DAY

I had a snow day from work yesterday and took a little walk.

P is for Palimpsest.

So deep.

SUNDAY MORNING

I take pictures with my memory when I drive around. This morning I went out and collected some of them. These are mostly things that I find interesting, and I'll post the rest of them this week.

I like looking for the LIME tag. This one is from a building wall downtown. I've found a few others, mostly in the North Knox / Downtown area, but have seen one as far west as Middlebrook Pike.

SUBLIMINAL MIND TRICKS

I stopped painting on this a few weeks ago and have been letting it sit. I finally decided it was done. And then, I spotted this box in my office. It's been kicking around for about a year. I can't explain this one. Inspiration by proximity?
